Kootenay Region

I have enjoyed traveling through the Kootenay Region,
including Lake Kootenay, Nelson, Creston, Cranbrook,
and Kimberly. Do any of you frequent this region?
I try to keep up with what is going on there, but the
national press Web sites (e.g., Globe and Mail,
Toronto Star, www.cyberpress.ca, etc.) usually don't
even mention this area at all. Any suggestions?

Hi yáll, are any of you ice climbers?
Where have you climbed?
I went to the Canmore Ice Fest year before last, but it was - 40 and the ice was a little hard for this Southerner.

BTW - I started an ice climbing tribe. It needs some stout Canadians!

My friend Maarten, a 22-yr-old snowboarder from Belgium is traveling through Canada, and is looking to find some work and a homestay in Banff or in another ski resort area. If you or anyone you know might be able to offer short- or long-term housing, leads on work, and/or connections to people who might be able to get him started, please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks!
